About us

Pathhead Community Club has been at the heart of village life since the late 1970s / early 1980s. The club was founded by a small group of local villagers who wanted to create a welcoming social space for the community. To raise the initial funds, they organised a series of fundraising dances in the Sports Pavilion at Callander Park.

In the early days, local residents were invited to join the club for a membership fee of just 10p. As the club grew in popularity, events moved to the Village Hall, with outside bars brought in—most often supplied by the Coronation Inn in Gorebridge.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the club truly flourished. With its own bar established, live music became a regular feature every Saturday and Sunday night, attracting around 100 regulars each week. Over the years, many well-known bands played at the club, including Accent, Sheer Greed, Revolver and Streamline, with Streamline becoming a much-loved fixture for our New Year’s Day celebrations.

The club also hosted a range of popular annual events, such as the Gala Day Dance and presentation dances for the Snooker Club, Football Club and Bowling Club—nights that were always sell-outs. Beyond live music, the hall and bar have been used for countless wedding receptions, milestone birthday parties and funeral teas, making the club an important venue for all of life’s occasions.

Above all, Pathhead Community Club has been shaped by the many local characters who have served on the committee and supported the club over the years. Their dedication and community spirit have helped create the welcoming, friendly place that continues to bring people together.

Today, Pathhead Community Club is looking to the future. Building on decades of local support, shared memories and community spirit, the club is seeking to revamp and re-energise itself as a modern asset for the whole village. With a clear vision to develop as a social enterprise, the aim is to create a sustainable, inclusive space that supports community wellbeing, brings people together across generations, and reinvests back into Pathhead. By honouring its past while embracing new ideas and opportunities, the club hopes to once again become a vibrant hub at the heart of the community.
